Daocheng Yading, located in the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, China, is often referred to as the "last pure land on Earth." As you step into Daocheng Yading, you are greeted by picturesque scenes: towering snow-capped mountains stand majestically, watching over the land, while verdant meadows and vibrant wildflowers paint a canvas of colour at their feet. In autumn, the golden leaves blend beautifully with the blue skies, wrapping the entire realm in warm tones and evoking endless poetic imagery. The clear, turquoise lakes shimmer with enchanting hues, creating a stunning contrast with the surrounding peaks, inspiring a sense of tranquility and wonder. Join us in this vast wilderness and let the chaos of the world seems to fade away, allowing only the call of nature to reverberate in one’s heart.
Begin your journey at Shangri-La in Yunnan, greeted by majestic landscapes that fill your senses with wonder. After checking into your hotel, venture out to explore Dukezong Old Town, one of the best-preserved Tibetan towns in China. The cobbled streets invite you to wander, as you browse through local artisans’ shops displaying beautiful handicrafts. Rest and acclimatise to the thinner air at 3,100 masl.

On your second day, rise early to prepare for the Abuji acclimatisation hike. Set off into the fresh morning air for an invigorating hike to the peaceful Abuji Lake. After a full day of activity, return to your hotel, to unwind over your first of many hotpot dinners. (Hike: 10km round-trip, 600m elevation gain)

Embark on a scenic journey to Yading. Nestled on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan, it is around a 4-hour drive that unfolds with stunning landscapes. Upon arrival in Yading, you are welcomed with a traditional tea ceremony, a gesture that symbolises the warmth and hospitality of the local community. Try your hand at Tibetan mani stone painting and rest up for the next few days of adventure.

Today, we visit some of the holy lakes nestled within the Yading Scenic Area. After a delightful breakfast, set out on a scenic bus to explore this natural wonderland including some of its popular lakes such as Milk Lake, Pearl Lake and the Five Coloured Lake. At each stop, revel in the pristine beauty, soaking in the serenity that fills the air.

Heading off the beaten track today, rise early to prepare for your hike to Boyong Lake. We will be working with guides who have exclusive rights to explore the wild trails and camp in the area, far from the tourist crowds. The excitement in the air is palpable as you set off into the wilderness, ready to immerse yourself in the untouched beauty. After hiking through picturesque landscapes, you finally reach the campsite by the lake.

Witness the breathtaking sunrise over 波拥措. As the sun rises, the sky illuminates with vibrant colours reflected on the lake, creating a mesmerising scene that is nothing short of magical. After enjoying a breakfast amidst nature, pack up your campsite and begin the hike back, taking time to absorb the beauty around you during your descent. Arrive back to Songtsam in the afternoon to complete the journey with a celebratory dinner.

On your final day, be transferred out of Yading to Daocheng airport where to catch a flight back to Chengdu.
