Day 2: Drums, Pagodas, and the Echoes of Empire

Your cultural immersion begins at the Drum and Bell Towers, standing proudly in the city centre. These towering structures once announced the time to the entire city and remain some of the largest and best-preserved in the country.
From here, hop on a bicycle and ride atop the City Wall, soaking in panoramic views of Xi’an’s old and new districts. Later, head to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a Tang Dynasty icon built to house Buddhist scriptures brought from India by monk Xuanzang. In the evening, take your seat for the Camel Bell Legend, a spellbinding performance blending dance, live music, and theatrical storytelling — all inspired by tales of the ancient Silk Road.

On Day 3, choose your own adventure. For the bold, a day trip to Mount Huashan awaits. Take a cable car to the North Peak and venture along mountain trails with awe-inspiring views, steep stairways, and ancient Taoist temples clinging to the cliffs. For lighter hiking, scenic lookouts and temples are easily accessible.

Alternatively, nature lovers can opt for the Shaanxi Wild Animal Breeding Centre, home to more than 50 pandas. Wander through tranquil enclosures and observe red pandas, golden monkeys, and other endangered species in this serene conservation haven.

Day 4: Terracotta Warriors, Imperial Legends, and Night Lights

No trip to Xi’an is complete without standing before the Terracotta Warriors, unearthed in 1974 by local farmers. Walk through the massive excavation pits, where thousands of life-sized soldiers, archers, and horses silently guard Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s mausoleum. A stop at a local ceramic workshop offers insight into the ancient techniques still used to craft warrior replicas today.

In the evening, enjoy a dazzling Qin-themed 5D performance, an immersive spectacle bringing the First Emperor’s reign to life. Later, stroll through Datang Everbright City, where modern lighting installations, classical sculptures, and costumed performers bring Tang Dynasty grandeur to the streets.
